On Wednesday, July 11 a bunch of Harper Collins romance authors are having a meet and greet at the Hotel Lawrence in Dallas Texas. We're going to meet in the bar from 8-9:30, following a huge book signing to benefit literacy (held at the Hyatt -- 5:30-7:30, over 400 authors in attendance). All readers/fans of the genre are invited to attend. It's a chance to have a drink with your favorite authors and just hang out for a bit. Authors who have confirmed* are:

Downtown!
The Hotel Lawrence is so bootiful. It's close to where my cousin has a loft in the Kirby Building. Can we come if we are not romance writers?I can only hope it has stopped raining so MUCH by then. Here in Richardson we actually have an engineered set of roads with storm sewers and we dredge the creeks (your tax dollar actually doing something useful for a change), and so we aren't seeing the flooding that those who built in the 100 Year Flood Plain areas are, but still, it's really wet. I personally love it and am enjoying it, but all my family and friends who have asthma or COPD or other ailments are coughing and complaining. What I dread is when the rain *stops* and we're suddenly on the broiler.
Are you in Dallas or the Dallas area? Hope you're on a hill, the way we are. (*grin*)

National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had funded a project with the US auto makers for the past five years. The NTSB covertly funded a project whereby the auto makers were installing black boxes in four wheel drive pickup trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash. They were surprised to find in 49 of the 50 states the last words of drivers in 61.2% of fatal crashes were, "Oh, Shit!" Only the state of Texas was different, where 89.3% of the final words were, "Hey Y'all, hold my beer and watch this!"Anonymous
